I make music and sound for concerts, recordings, art venues, public places, dance/theater, radio, and moving image. The work is often site-based, combining location sound with instruments, voices, electronics, and found or natural objects. It has led me from Olympia to the Lower East Side, to New Mexico, and back to Seattle, with musical stops along the way in Bali, the Ozarks, and the Azores. I perform with the Seattle Phonographers Union and in various improvising situations, and enjoy collaborating with artists in other disciplines. I’ve recorded as a duo with Steve Roden, and with K. Leimer and Marc Barreca as Three Point Circle. I’ve released albums on 12k, Cold Blue, Palace of Lights, and elsewhere. I am the Director of Nonsequitur, a non-profit presenting adventurous music and audio art at the Chapel Performance Space in Seattle.
